This is me at 98 pounds in May. This body was the result of a healthy lifestyle. It was not, however, a healthy body. I thought that nothing could be wrong with me, because I ate healthy food and lots of it, ran everyday, and lived a completely healthy lifestyle. I just thought that that’s what healthy looked like for me. But I was wrong. 9% body fat is not healthy for a female, even an elite athlete (which was always my justification). My resting heart rate was in the low 30s and my resting body temperature was around 95. I wasn’t just “different” or “an exception”. These were warning signs that my body wasn’t functioning properly. I’m lucky that the amenorrhea caught my attention before I encountered more serious problems. I never considered that just as you can easily slip into being unhealthy by eating slightly too much and not quite exercising enough, you can also slip into being unhealthy but not quite eating enough and exercising slightly too much.
oh yea.
